Sura and the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) daughter, Fatima Zahra (peace beupon her), were both descendants of Yaqub ibn Ishaq. Sura was known for his high intelligence and good understanding of different sciences. The Prophet said that he was like a father to him. The story goes that when Muruwwahab-e-Azaa - the last messenger of Allah - died, Saraheelah found Saraheelah to deliver a letter from Allah to the prophet. It was a letter which commanded: “He should offer prayers and give Zakat and should not pray for forgiveness until he does so” [Bokhari]. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was stunned by the message, but trusted in Allah. He accepted the command and decided to travel to Makkah. The journey was long, hard and full of hardships which made him fall sick. The side effects of that trip were that his hair turned white and his body was completely weakened and exhausted. Eventually, the messenger reached Makkah and performed his duties as a Muslim: he offered prayers and gave Zakat. But he still had to seek forgiveness from Allah. He asked the people around him to make Dua for him, but they all refused to do that and told him that it has been forbidden and they cannot do anything about it. The messenger got very upset and was wondering what to do. At that time, Sura came and asked for permission for entry. Once admitted, he sat with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and started talking about his condition as a refugee who had left his home country without knowing where he was going. The Prophet had some doubts about Sura's motives, but his face was honest and sincere. So he asked him once again for forgiveness and at the end of the discussion, Sura complied with their request. He recited the following verse: And indeed, I am on clear evidence from my Lord. I am not one of the polytheists... Said He who carried out you (i.e. Prophet Muhammad) in a clear manner. A Messenger only who will read what is right for Him (i.e. God) and reject what is evil ... Then He bestowed upon you beauty from His Grace ... And a Messenger from Him that recites to you the verses of Allah ... And has taught you that which you never knew. Then He will repel from you the evil and admit to His mercy whom He wills. And indeed, it is a matter of grace from your Lord (i.e. God) ... [Bokhari] After this, Sura recited the following verse: "Verily, my Lord has guided me to a straight path ..." [Bokhari]. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "This verse makes my soul feel light and cheer me up" [Bukhari]. cfa1e77820
